Austin Smith, PMHNP-BC
Austin Smith originally graduated with his bachelor’s degree in nursing from Herzing University in Akron, Ohio. After graduation Austin started working in the psychiatric inpatient setting working on the adult, pediatric, adolescent, and dual diagnosis units in order to become well rounded in the psychiatric setting. After working in the inpatient setting Austin also took on management and leadership roles within the hospital. Austin also has experience in the pediatric and adolescent residential setting and has worked closely with children in the foster care system. Most recently Austin decided to pursue his master’s degree in nursing to become a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Austin’s areas of specialty include but are not limited to childhood through adulthood mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, PTSD, military Veteran mental heath care, bipolar disorder, and behavioral/emotional symptoms.
Austin approaches mental health treatment from a collaborative approach with you and utilizes your own lived experiences to formulate a treatment plan to address symptoms you may be experiencing. Austin approaches treatment with empathy, clinical knowledge, and awareness that each person and experience is different, and treatment can be tailored to the individual needs. Austin uses therapy when applicable in individual settings as well as discussing and initiating medication management when needed. His goal is to work with you throughout the process of addressing individual mental health needs and to increase the quality of life of those he treats.
