Melissa  Sexton, PHNP-BC

Melissa Sexton has a profound curiosity for understanding the human experience and a passion for promoting resilience. She began and spent a majority of her decade-long nursing career in the ICU, where she established her own resilience by caring for others in both mind and body. As a dedicated Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, she believes that high-quality mental health care should be affirming and accessible to all. Her therapeutic approach is built on a foundation of respect, cultural humility, and clinical excellence. While earning her degree in the Master of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Kent State University, she developed a fierce appreciation for evidence-based practice and person-centered treatment.

 

Adult specialties included in Melissa’s practice are Mood Disorders, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, ADHD, and Women’s Health, to name a few. In ages six and up, her specialties include ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, and OCD.

 

A warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment is provided for all individuals, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community, BIPOC individuals, and those with diverse abilities. Her priority is creating a compassionate space where you can feel seen, safe, and heard—to work collaboratively in your healing journey by exploring therapeutic options, discussing medication management, and navigating complex feelings.

 

Melissa has a deep love for caring that extends beyond humans – she is an avid plant enthusiast! When she is not playing in the dirt from tending to her plants, you may find her skiing, hiking (rather slowly because she is more likely taking in the sights than getting in miles), traveling to satiate her wanderlust, or exploring a new a craft with a medium that is ever-evolving as inspiration strikes!
